Strelitzia Nicolai is a truly tropical plant that we love; it gives the rainforest feel to any home. Common names include the White Bird of Paradise, Wild banana, and Giant Bird of Paradise. It's beautiful, whatever you call it. A bold and elegant, tall houseplant originally native to the evergreen coastal forests of South Africa, it's recently become established in Mexico as a wild plant, sometimes called the Mexican bird of paradise. It’s also ingenious because it has developed to allow its leaves to split to let light through to the lower part of the plant, an adaptation for its native habitat in the jungle.
Strelitzia Nicolai shouts ‘tropical’ to anyone looking at it with its dark green, graceful foliage reaching up towards the light. Although it’s a tall houseplant, it doesn’t take up a lot of space with its slim form.
The White Bird of Paradise would make a fabulous houseplant gift for that extra special person who likes the flavour of the tropics. Imagine the pleasure when that plant gift delivery arrives at the door!
This Strelitzia plant is not hard to manage and will bring so much pleasure! Our Baby houseplants selection is huge and ideal for young collectors or gifting.
If you decide to gift this houseplant to a special person, we can make it even more personal by including a free, handwritten card with your delivery. We won’t enclose the paperwork, so there’ll be no seeing the price!
